Drug Smugglers Surgically Implant Heroin in Puppies

Tuesday, January 04, 2005

Reuters reported today that Colombian drug traffickers surgically hid heroin in puppies' bellies in a plan to evade international customs controls. Police found six puppies with scars on their bellies in Colombia. Ultrasounds revealed bags of heroin inside the live animals.

Veterinarians removed the bags, and the puppies are recovering.

  • I am so glad the puppies are ok. I can't understand how anyone could use a poor innocent animal for such purposes. Let's hope all the pups make a full recovery and find nice homes.

  • I am devastated that some of the puppies have died. So sad. Those smugglers should be found and locked up.

  • This story made me sick to my stomach. As far as the people go that swallowed the heroin to smuggle it...whatever. They had a choice. Those poor puppies didn't. Dogs are some of the most trusting companions that we have. This truly saddens me. What is this world coming to?

  • I AM OFFICIALLY A DOG LOVER AND THIS NEWS IS JUST HORRIBLE. I hate these people who planted drugs in dogs! Why animals? If they are so eager for drugs, THEY should be the ones with drugs in themselves, like it or not!
