Family Dog Saves Boy From Tsunami

Sunday, January 02, 2005

CNN is reporting today of a story where a boy's life was saved by his own dog, from the Tsunami wave in India.

When Dinakaran's mother saw the wave coming, all she could do was pick up her two youngest children, and ran to safety up a hill. She hoped Dinakaran, her oldest boy, could run to safety on his own. Instead, he chose to seek shelter from a hut.

That's when the family dog, "Selvakumar" went into the hut and did everything it could to nip and nudge the boy out of the hut and up the hill to safety. "That dog grabbed me by the collar of my shirt," the Dinakaran said from under some trees at Pondicherry University, where the family is waiting for relief. "He dragged me out."
