Washington Dog Walks to Texas to Find New Owner

Monday, January 10, 2005

The AP reports a story of a dog who traveled by herself from Washington State to Texas. She was found at a truck stop near Amarillo, Texas covered with ice. The local veterinarian ran a microchip scan on her and discovered its owner lives in Castle Rock, WA. The dog was then taken to the local animal shelter.

Offers came in to pay for the dog's trip back to Washington, but the animal shelter was reluctant to let her go back. Her owner agreed to let her stay at the animal shelter, and was subsequently adopted by the person who has been caring for her at the shelter.

  • I wonder why the dog left home. Man does it because he does not want to live there anymore. Do you think someone picked it up in Washington and drove it to Texas? I sure would have paid to get my dog back.
