"It hurts, it really hurts because to know that somebody put traps out close to your home and gets away with it, and that something like that can happen," Egea told KMBC's Emily Aylward.I wonder then if Egea can set up a trap to trap the trapper, and then shoot him if he appears aggressive?
Sheriff's deputies told Egea they couldn't do anything because trapping is legal.
The trapper told KMBC he shot the dogs as a business decision, saying he doesn't have time to notify people every time a pet gets caught.
I am not clear on where this happened, but.... here, you must mark your traps and have them where you are not likely to catch a pet. Its been years since we ran traps but...again my brother got into leagle trouble for catching a coonhound by accident. And, oh by the way, he set the dog free, not the kind of trapper to shoot dogs for what ever reason.

Why, when you report on these things, do you then post Google
search results on the very thing you are lambasting? The page does not make sense, unless you are promoting both sides of the argument.

Google search results? The link that I gave you in my article takes you to the original news report on Yahoo.

State law in Missouri allows for the trapping of animals in the public domain such as ditches and under bridges where the dogs were caught.
I wonder why you're not concerned that the owner of the dogs was just letting them run free?
The trapper in question has freed quite a few pets caught in his traps, if he is able to do so safely. He is also a dog owner who keeps his pets properly confined as am I.
I'm his brother in law and I'm concerned that people such as yourself and the reporter are ready to jump to a conclusion without knowing the facts.

The Post includes a link to the article-
Most country folks to not leash thier dogs to go for hikes. But nor should they let them roam anywhere by themselves.
When accompanied by the pet owner why shouldn't they be able to walk without a leash on thier own property?
Even though you are not suppose to trespass on other property-
Also , maybe if you have bordering neighbors , maybe draw up a map that has exactly where the traps are, this way the dog owners would not let thier dogs roam in that area.Or atleast be aware that they is traps out.
If I were the trapper, I would have shot the dogs to end suffering,it is cruel to let them be trapped and god knows how long they were actually out there.
The pet owner is responsible for letting her dogs out and about- she "found the dogs" That means that she let them out and then had to go out looking for them after time had past.
I wish there was more on this story and perhaps more indepth from both sides.
But hey that is just my opinion-

the end of the story has been decided. gartman was found liable in civil court and has been ordered to pay approximately $2600 in retribution for the lives of these two beautiful animals. he will no doubt, as he has self proclaimed that he is above the law of decency, run from this obligation as well. hopefully he will suffer in some small or greater way for his actions. savannah and bubba there is justice and we will always miss you. slm
