Pet-shop owners selling dogs and cats that have not been "sexually sterilized" would pay a $15 fee to support a fund to spay and neuter dogs and cats under legislation the Senate approved Thursday. The should be going to the House for a vote.
Bedford Republican Sen. Sheila Roberge said it's only fair to charge these shop owners that contribute to the number of offspring that end up in animal shelters.
Can you be fined for not spaying or neutering your pets?!
Last spring we bought a female dog from our local pet store. During the process of adopting our pet - there were some documents stating that they would like for you to spay/neuter your pets. In the mean time when we get our pet home - (she was staying in our house) however we let her out every so often to go do her business (potty) and in the mean time she gets pregnant. However, she would stay in our yard and the other pets would venture onto our property. Why I should understand that there are certain laws for your pets but have never heard of being fined for not spaying/neutering your pets. In the midst of all of this my son is born and in critical condition at a hospital in Atlanta GA. To finish my story - my pet had babies and when they got of age - we placed them in what we thought were good homes to where we could get them out of our house (tearing up stuff). So to make a long story short - They are trying to take us to court and we have to come up with 7 babies by our female friend and make sure that they have been fixed to where she want have any more babies. Don't you all think that this is a little on the extremem side? There are people out there who are being pet abusers, this is not a pet abused situation. Come on...
