Several pit bull owners, however, spoke against the ordinance, saying the people who mistreat the dogs should be held responsible, and the city should allow more time to think of other solutions rather than deny one breed the chance of adoption.
"If they don't get it from animal control they will get them somewhere else. It'll make them more valuable on the streets, since they're banned, it'll make them more prestigious," said Janet Anderson, who owns a pit bull.
i think there should not be a pitbull law because i just had to give my pitbull away and did not like it at all i think there should be stricter laws for animal cruity just set higher for fighting or neglecton animals rocs and cockaspanuals if thats spell correct or not have a higher rate of bitting humans then pits and they are all right to have i think there should be certain laws to have all dogs and owners should take full responsibilty for their dogs just banning pits i do not htink is the way to go

Pit Bulls should not be banned. Our constitutional rights are being infringed upon. We should have the right to own what our hearts desire. Don't kill the pit-bulls, beat the owners that abuse them. They only learn what is taught to them. You teach them love, they will be gentle. You teach them to fight, they will be agressive. I have two, and they are the most lovable dogs I have ever owned. As they say "Punish The Deed, Not The Breed."

From what Ive read, the city law does not say that you cannot own a pit bull. I understand it to mean that you cannot adopt one from the city shelter. This is a good spot to dispute the law but pit bull owners are not, from what I read, required to muzzle, register, microchip, have extensive homeowners insurance concerning their dogs, etc. I agree that the people who make these wonderful dogs far more aggressive than they naturally are should be punished, however, that is probably never giong to happen. Thankfully, from extensive research, I can still move to Hot Springs and take my baby with me. (6mo old fawn and white bully girl, sweet as candy)
However, if there is to be a law concerning dogs that have a tendency to be agressive, it should extend to ALL dogs. My brother's chiuhauha has bitten me more than my pit. My moms ratapins (mixed breeds) have bitten and done more damage than my all the pits I have ever owned. (one miniture pinscher made it necessary for my younger brother to have stitches on his right cheek, under the eye) But you don't hear of people trying to ban Min Pins. If there is a ban, it should include every single K9 out there. Not just pit bulls. DOWN WITH BSL!
