PetFlight Reports on Air Travel Pet Incidents

Tuesday, September 20, 2005

Chris Nichols launched a new website and blog called "PetFlight" focusing on travelling with your pet aboard airplanes. Aside from tips on how to travel with your pets, it features a blog on pet deaths, injuries, and losses as reported by the US Department of Transportation under the Wendell H. Ford Aviation Investment and Reform Act.

I had been reporting on these reports here on DoggieNews, but perhaps PetFlight offers a dedicated information source for these statistics.

I took an interest in this subject because of so much anti-business propaganda spewing forth from the "animal rights" front. I welcomed seeing actual facts putting an end to all this ideological banter. Sure enough, pets do get killed aboard airplanes but not as many as they'd like you to believe. And how many pets get killed each year while travelling in cars? You won't hear the animal rights yahoos talk about that.

In any case, I welcome sites like PetFlight to disseminate this information to the online pet ownership (Er, "pet guardianship") community.
