2006 is the year of the dog, according to the Chinese zodiac.

An article published on CCTV.com says that retailers across China are stocking up on anything resembling a dog to cash in on New Year's gift giving.

Shops in Nanning, the capital of Guangxi Zhuang Autonumous Region, have already stocked their shelves for New Year's gift shoppers. Everything from cups and slippers and to handbags has doggy designs on it. Shop owners say as long as it's got a dog on it, it will sell.

It sounds like dogs are going to be good luck charms next year.
