Pets Best, insurance for pets, a division of General Fire & Casualty Company, today announced a free, easy-to-use pet recovery program for veterinary clients.

The system is administered by Smart ID, an organization that focuses on non-database recovery of pets. The system uses a sticker that adheres to a dog's pet tag. The sticker contains a phone number to Smart ID, and an ID# number representing your dog.

Anyone who finds your dog, calls the number, reports the ID#, and the folks at Smart ID, take over from there.

Pets Best is offering these free programs in the states of Arizona, Colorado, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, Oregon, Texas and Utah. The company anticipates being able to offer the program in 25 states by the end of this year, and all 50 states by the end of 2006.

The system is free to all Pets Best customers.
