  • Actually, the list was accurate the first time with Labs as the number one breed in the United States. Simple research into the topic will confirm this...

  • i have to agree with the first comment...i love labs but nothing is better than a beagle!!! except for (maybe) a boston terrier (i love those googley eyes!!). sadly, they don't make the top ten at all...

  • I have a boston terrier and i LOVE them they are the best pet! I cant believe they arent in the top ten let alone the top twenty! if your looking for a sweet lovable dog that is mellow inside and playful outside, loves kids and needs a limited amount of exercise you should totally get one! xoxo, anonymous

  • I'm happy to see that yorkshire terrier's made it 3rd in the top 10. I love my 3 little yorkies. I think everyone should have one at least to say the truth. Once you go yorkie, you dont go back!

  • I also think that the Boston Terrier should be #1, and Beagles #2, boxers #3 all Labs #4, German Sheperds #5, Dachshunds #6, Poodles #7, Schnauzers #8, Mini Schnauzers #9, then Yokshire Terriers in the way I put it I put Yorkies last because they are not my favoite dog, but I love all dogs just not the same.

  • I will agree that german shepherds are the number one dog, they are incredible at training, obedience, loyalty, and companionship, obviously I own one, and I must agree about the husky as well, my husbands dog is a husky, and he is sooo sweet, and lovable, a great dog.

  • I love my Shih Tzu, but I'm sad to see her breed at #9. I think Shih Tzu sould be at least #4 or 5. She is the smartest and sweetest dog I've ever owned.

  • I believe Dachshunds should have been put a little higher. Ever since I was little I have owned a dachshund and I have never found a better dog. In fact I have a little one sitting in my lap as I type this up!

  • I am sick and tired of people saying that small dogs are not real dogs. Small dogs are nonthreatening, easy to transport, don't put their noses in inappropriate places, are cuddly and affectionate, don't destroy your home, and most are minimal or nonshedding. I have owned a sheperd, malamute, bassett, sheltie, poodle, and heinz 57. I currently have a cockapoo and a pom/havanese mix. They are the best, easiest dogs I have had.
