Aspen Pet Products Inc., which makes the Booda brand of dog chews, is rolling out two
new dental chews hoping to grab some market share while Greenies is under fire.
The "Pup-RRR-mint Sticks" and "Muttz-RRR-ella Sticks", are dual-layer dog chews with a taste, shape, hardness, and dental health benefits that it hopes dog owners will applaude.
Pup-RRR-mint Sticks are fortified with dill, parsley, and mint to freshen breath, clean teeth and provide great taste, while Muttz-RRR-ella Sticks, are made with a real-cheese center. Aspen's own "independent taste tests" show that dogs prefer Muttz-RRR-ella Sticks 3:1 and Pup-RRR-mint Sticks 2:1 over Greenies.
And since digestibility is what's putting Greenies out to pasture, Aspen says that their new sticks are made from an extrusion process, formed in much the same way as pasta, and are more easily broken down and digested. Moreover, the sticks have a uniform shape such that the ends are not larger, which is the cause of many intestinal blockage cases.
Pup-RRR-mint Sticks and Muttz-RRR-ella Sticks are available at PetSmart and PETCO stores.
