Man Fights Alligator for Dog

Michael Rubin has some hefty huevos rancheros.

He was out walking his two dogs, a Golden Retriever and a Border Collie, when the Golden, a six month old puppy, ran ahead to the edge of a pond.

That's when an alligator came up out of the pond, snatched it up, and went back into water.

So what does Rubin do? He jumps in, wrestles the alligator, starts throwing punches at its noggin, and pries the dog out of its jaws. I suppose as long as a gator has something in its mouth it ain't going to bite.

Apparently, the puppy is doing good, though I don't think she'll be retrieving stuff out of the water anymore.

  • I'd like to think that the guy was crazy to defend his pooch against an alligator, but then if my dog was in that large mouth, I don't think I would let the alligator eat her. I would at least try to poke the alligator in the eyes with a stick or something. This is a great story of someone who truly loves their pet. Way to go man who fights alligator for dog. You Rock!!!

  • I admire his huevos and his courage. Not to mention his love of his dog.
    But, if you live in South Florida, you have to be pretty dense to let your dogs run free near a canal. Duh, there are gators in the bathtub in S. Florida. If he loved the pup a little more, he'd have kept him on a leash. At least it was a gator, not a truck.
