Whatever happened to the creep who did this? Was she arrested? Is she in jail? Were charges pressed??? Many of us work hard to care for and save pets. It is an evil person who would do something like this.

The laws need to be stiffer for the sick people in this world who do sick things to these poor animals. If the laws were changed and people put in jail for this kind of thing,Then maybe the sick'os of the world would think more before they did things like this.

I am a Criminal Justice major and an animal lover. The person who did this needs to be brought to justice. It is awful what some people will do to animals. We need to remember animals are God's creatures too. I rescue animals all the time. My husband stops for snakes, frogs, turtles and anything else in the road. If the animal is injured it comes home with me to get well. If not hurt I help it across the road. My husband even dodges wooly worms.

I want to know if any charges have been made for doing something this horrific to a dog.- is this woman who committed this from an inbred area in Texas...- how horrible we humans have become.

The sad thing about this incident, as well as injuring Lucy, is that perhaps the woman used it as a disciplinary example to the child. Guess what he might do as an adult to his kids? The cycle of violence keeps repeating itself unless there is intervention. Someone must get help for this kid who is probably traumatized too. The woman should lose any custody to the boy.

Hello Everyone. PJ Varrassi here, the family who took Lucy to the vet on October 12, 2006.
We sincerely appreciate everyone's kind words. As many of you are aware, there are many published studies that clearly show that people who abuse animals also abuse humans. The only way to stop this vicious cycle is to strengthen the animal cruetly laws and STRONGLY ENFORE THE ONES WE HAVE. To not do so is to imply we accept the status quo.
The Ellis County Sheriff's Department is currently still investigating this vicious act. The SPCA of Texas and HSUS have joined together to offer a $5,000 reward for the apprehension and conviction of the individual who did this.
Lucy is doing much much better but she still has her back legs wrapped in bandages. Not to be surprised, she does have some behavioral issues we are working on.
Lucy has an email address and she is sharing a web site with her "uncle". Please feel free to visit her story at www.RBF-Mckinney.org Lucy's e-mail is Lucy@rbf-mckinney.org
Again, thanks to everyone for your concern. It is appreciated more than you will every know.
PJ and Lucy
