The 43-year-old man claims he was first yelled at by a hotel employee for not picking up after his dog, a job he claims belonged to the hotel worker. The hotel worker then flagged down a police officer who told Nicholls to stop his wheelchair.A struggled ensued, and Nicholls fell out of his wheelchair. Now he's suing the city.
I hope the police officers are fired, as well. There is no sense in arguing with, fighting with or second guessing anyone who is quadraplegic. This foolishness just exemplifies the attitude of society toward anyone with a disability. We are worthless and always wrong, in their eyes. Maybe, one day, those in every service industry will be trained to do their job instead of just picking up a paycheck.
