Pet Gift Club

Friday, November 10, 2006

Surprise a PetCindy Pederson, the owner of a new business called "Surprise a Pet!" claims to offer America's first ever pet gift club.

For a price of $25.95 per year, she'll send a gift to your pet six times. The gift might be a spa product, a toy, or a treat. Each gift is shipped in an "eco-friendly" box.

While it's a neat way to celebrate the joys of pet ownership, it's probably has more value as a gift for another pet-owning friend of yours.

Each Surprise a Pet! order includes an exclusive sterling silver collar charm, as well as a client discount number to reorder products on the company's website for for 25-30% off the retail value.

  • Cindy's is NOT the country's first pet gift club.. Take a look at The Pawsh Paw (www.pawshpaw.com). They've been offering their pet gift club for over a year now - LONG before Cindy's new business AND oddly enough, Cindy's NEW business website features similar imagery (a Westie by the gifts, and a Maltese by the gifts) thought Cindy used photos and Pawshpaw used the art of a published children's book Illustrator but the "coincidental" likeness / choice of breeds used is extremely suspicious.
It looks to me that Cindy's business idea was actually stolen from the Pawsh Paw.

  • Hi everybody...Cindy Pederson here. Thank you to Doggie News for spreading the word about Surprise A Pet! One thing that defines our unique gift club is how our customers (and their pets) receive their gifts: much like a "wine of the month" club or music club, pet parents can sign up once to send surprises at regular intervals throughout the year, including Valentine's Day and Christmas. (As opposed to simply sending one gift for one occasion, which we define as more of a gift service than a gift club.) And, I'm proud that the Westie featured on our website at www.surpriseapet.com is a one-of-a-kind...he's Joey, our family pet! I was surprised to see the anonymous comment from Nov. 15. Although our research into pet gifts never turned up the site anonymous refers to, we wish them well. With 164 million pet dogs and cats in the U.S. there's plenty of gifting to go around! Sincerely, Cindy www.surpriseapet.com

  • Hey anonymous from Nov. 15th - you seem to be taking Cindy's new business very personally...does your kid own pawsh paw or something? I don't see the similarities in the sites. I think Surprise a Pet looks great and I wish Cindy the best of luck with her new venture.
