Life Is Good

Thursday, April 27, 2006

Life Is GoodLife Is Good is the name of a clothing design company that features a stick-figure like guy and dog expressing a somewhat bohemian life style.

They have several designs featuring dogs, such as this one.

They have them in mens and women's t-shirts.

I saw some of the t-shirts today at a Discovery Channel store inside of a shopping mall. The shirts appear to be high quality.

$20.00 each.

National Pooper Scooper Week

Friday, April 14, 2006

National Pooper Scooper WeekDid you know that next week, April 24 through 30, 2006 is National Pooper Scooper Week?

It was designated by aPaws, (Association of Professional Animal Waste Specialists), a trade organization of doggie poop picker-uppers. These people make a living visiting your backyard and picking up the poop.

aPaws provides a directory of pooper-scooper companies in different states who can help any dog owner who may be looking for a workable solution to keeping their yards cleared of dog poop.

Armed with spade or rake in hand they go about every week cleaning up those mounds of "calling cards" our dogs leave on the ground. Reasonable rates range from $10.00 or more for once-a-week clean-up services. Some offer cat box clean-up for women who are pregnant and under strict orders from their doctors to reduce the risk of exposure to toxoplasmosis, while others provide dog-walking, pet-sitting, and geese poop clean-up.

Paws & Paint Gallery

Monday, April 03, 2006

Dog paintingIt's been a while since I last blogged a dog painter, so when I heard about Hiroko Ishimaru, I decided it was time to write another entry.

Based in Colorado, Hiroko originally hails from Japan. Her business, Paws & Paint creates original dog paintings, commissioned works, limited remark edition Giclee prints and gift certificates.

She enjoys painting dogs in motion, so if you want an action portrait of your pooch, grab your camcorder or camera, and take plenty of shots. Each custom painting is a hand brushed original, with turnaround time at four to six weeks.

Her work is currently on display at Jumping Bean Coffee House, located at 434 Mountain Avenue, in Berthoud, CO, until May 5th.

Polyester Body Sleeves for Dogs

Saturday, April 01, 2006

PetsleevesA company called Petsleeves, LLC. is offering a product called "Petsleeves".

It's billed as "Disposable Petwear", primarily to reduce the amount of loose pet hair and allergens on your furniture and rug, and to help protect your dog from fleas and burrs.

It's made of 100% polyester, and you don't wash it, just throw it away. It kinda resembles those plastic/rubber panties that mommies used to put on their babies.

One interesting point, is that it could prevent dogs from biting a surgical wound, which eliminates having to wear the "lamp shade".

And yes, it's ... wait a minute ... Veterinarian Approved!

They come in eight different sizes, ranging from $14.95 to $18.95.
