Best Friends Pet CareThis is a sponsored review.

When Best Friends Pet Care, a nationwide chain of pet grooming facilities, approached us for a sponsored review, I wasn't sure what to write because what is there specifically about a pet grooming business that DoggieNews readers would be interested in knowing?

But what caught my attention as I wandered around their website is the vast library of articles about pet care. And with my background in Internet marketing and publishing, I knew right away this is how they can grab attention from other pet owners.

I particularly liked the library of grooming tips by breed...
http://www.bestfriendspetcare.com/dog_grooming/dog-grooming.cfm

Each dog breed has its own webpage, with the breed name in the URL. If you were to google, "pug dog grooming", or "beagle dog grooming" or "chihuahua dog grooming", you'll find Best Friends Pet Care right there at or near the top of the listings.

I imagine pet grooming is one of those businesses that probably does better marketing itself through the phone book or newspaper, but if you're trying to attention online, and get it for free, Best Friends Pet Care is probably an example of what to do.

BTW, I also googled, "dog grooming" and Best Friends Pet Care has the #4 and #5 positions. That's pretty good for a broad search term.

The business also has lots of other articles related to general pet care. These will also grab traffic from search engines, and it doesn't cost anything to market your business by publishing articles on your own website.

"But wait a minute", you say. "I have a dog blog with hundreds of articles on it, and my blog never shows up on Google". That's because it's a blog. Google considers blog content as being "timely" content, that is, associated with some kind of current event, like a diary entry, news, or commentary about recent event. Blog articles usually rank high in the first few months, and then fall drastically down in the listings. On the other hand, standard webpages, which is what Best Friends Pet Care is publishing, starts out low in the rankings, and gradually work their up over time, and usually stay up. The only way a specific blog article ever stays ranked high, is when it enjoys a lot of inbound links from other sites, or when someone googles a highly-detailed search.

So ok, I doubt that DoggieNews readers care to hear about how to build a website that attracts a lot of attention, but then again, some of our readers are pet business owners too.

As for whether or not Best Friends Pet Care is a great place to take your pet, I can't say. While they do have several locations across the USA, their nearest center to me is about 80 miles to the south in San Diego, and I'm not getting paid for the gas or the pet grooming expenses.

They appear to be more focused locations along the Atlantic Coast. Click here to see all of their locations.

But if you need some pet grooming services, give them a try. If you've already tried them, click on "Post a Comment" and tell us about it. (Be nice, they paid for this article).

  • V happy with boarding options for both my dog and cat - used them and would bring them back...My cat loved seeing the fish tank and tv while she was boarding, and my dog has a very large cage (6-7' long), and bedtime stories a couple nights a week. The staff took good care of them...Yes, it was more expensive than othr facilities, but then again, I toured 3 other places in the area, and they were all cramped and had slightly dirty and beaten up amenities; this place had alarm systems hooked into the fire dept, sprinkler system, etc. I felt they would be safe and also be less stressed and healthier when we got them home...I then brought my cat back to get bathed and trimmed, and thought it was expensive for the amount of clipping done. However, my cat wasn't overly stressed, and that's what was important to us. I would recommend people check this place out.

  • I had my dog there for Doggie Day Camp, he's a senior dog and had seperation anxiety. I felt so relaxed and comfortable leaving him there esp. when they had birthday celebrations and bobbing for hotdogs (which my dog tried twice!). What a great place!
