  • It is amazing if it is real...they did a great job with the shadows if it is a photoshop job.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 11:27 AM, April 27, 2007

  • It's a fake. I checked it out on Scope.com (myth buster site) and they said it was photoshoped. Would have been amazing if it were real.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 2:54 PM, April 27, 2007

  • I found the picture on snopes and it says its false. It showed a picture of the real dog, which was over 200 pounds and six feet tall. And the dog's name is Hercules.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 3:22 PM, April 27, 2007

  • it looks real if not they done a good job !!

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 11:10 AM, April 29, 2007

  • Actually it is real. You will find it in the latest Guiness Book of Records.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 12:57 AM, May 01, 2007

  • no its not real. Scope.com shows a picture of the "biggest dog" from the Guiness Book of Records and it looks nothing like the dog in the picture.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 2:50 PM, May 01, 2007

  • I've always wondered why people readily accept snopes & other sites as being the gospel truth... How do I know that I believe them??? I'm choosing the fun route: to believe that's one big dog!!!

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 9:34 PM, May 01, 2007

  • he can come cath a pig with me imagine him running up to you like a dinosaur

By Anonymous doony, at 1:00 AM, May 02, 2007

  • its real u clowns

By Anonymous doony, at 1:02 AM, May 02, 2007

  • that is a big A** dog man

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 9:25 AM, May 03, 2007

  • Are you lot jealous coz you dont own the dog, just take the photo for what it is a huge dog.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 3:00 AM, May 04, 2007

  • Can't find it in a Guinness search

By Blogger Dennis, at 12:25 PM, May 04, 2007

  • Photoshopped

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 5:54 PM, May 05, 2007

  • It's real you noobs. That other dog on that mythbuster site is Kell. They have other pictures of that one on another site.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 6:47 AM, May 06, 2007

  • its not real i even have proof the breeders foundation said so im 11 years old and even i know that so who ever made up this lie needs to get off his high horse and tell the truth about hercules if there even is a hercules

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 11:38 AM, May 08, 2007

  • WOW!!!!!! thats HUGE!!!! is it true?!

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 10:34 AM, May 09, 2007

  • A horse can weigh can well over 1,000 lbs. and this horse looks about the same weight as the dog who weighs a "mere" 282 lbs.

This horse should break a world record for the lightest horse in regard to his height and girth!

By Blogger jugheadandbigethel, at 12:14 AM, May 11, 2007

  • is it true because it does not look like it at all my dogs are half that size

By Blogger dog lover, at 9:34 AM, May 11, 2007

  • It does look a bit fake, but I think that's what Scope is basing their judgement on. I don't trust Scope, and anyway, it's more fun thinking it's real.

By Blogger David, at 2:49 PM, May 13, 2007

  • fake look at the collar it is a horse one

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 8:38 PM, May 21, 2007

  • It's not THAT good a Photoshop job. The top of the dog's head is cut off to be flat. And his feet don't sink into the grass at all, like the horse's and the peoples'.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 9:24 AM, May 23, 2007

  • THATS A BIG MASTIFF!!!!

THAT REALLY IS THE REAL SIZE!!!!

    I LOVE DOGS!!!!

I AM THE BIGGEST DOG LOVER IN THE WORLD!!!

By Anonymous biggest dog lover in the world, at 12:37 PM, May 30, 2007

  • Dog picture is a Mastini (Neapolitan Mastiff) it is photoshopped. If this picture was authentic, a Mastini this size would be about 400-500 pounds not 280. The real dog is probably 200-210.

By Blogger revwad, at 3:27 PM, May 31, 2007

  • His feet do sink in, u just can't tell from this small pic. That so happens to be the pic
I seen in the Guiness Book. I believe it to be true specially sense CNN has a video.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 5:51 AM, June 06, 2007

  • All other evidence aside… I believe this is a fake picture. If it were real there would be videos of this freak of nature dog, and the owner would be cashing in BIG TIME. But it is a nice job faking it…I mean, everyone on the net has seen it…

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 11:57 AM, June 08, 2007

  • It's a real photo but dog is with two very small people and a tiny horse.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 6:57 AM, June 12, 2007

  • I am always looking for cool and abnormal things on the internet especially on youtube but this kinda looks fake it just doesnt look real enough it would be amazing if it was real then id be realy gobsmacked but from what everyone else is sayng it just makes it seem less real.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 6:40 AM, June 14, 2007

  • Its a fake...I saw a video of the real Hercules. He looks nothing like that dog. That dog in the fake pic looks like it weighs 500 lbs.

By Blogger loridenn, at 11:20 AM, June 18, 2007

  • I think it is the cutist thing in the world. Me and my sister do think its real. I have it as my backround.lol

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 3:35 PM, June 23, 2007

  • Can you like, Ride on him? If you can, that would be awsome! i do believe it is a real BIG dog.

By Anonymous Allison, at 9:20 AM, June 25, 2007

  • Doesn't it make anyone wonder why there aren't many pictures of this dog? Does anyone even know where this picture even came from, or who took it or who the people are? Why would the owner of such a magnificent animal take only two pictures (I've only found two and both are from the same scene, one from the front, one from the rear) and not give any more info? The whole thing is to fishy to be legit. It looks photoshoped, anyway.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 9:54 PM, June 25, 2007

  • very fake. I am a web designer and photoshop images all the time and I can tell by the edges of the dog.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 8:04 AM, June 26, 2007

  • I think this is fake as well, there aren't any back legs to this dog in the picture. But it would make for a great super hero sidekick, wouldn't it?

By Anonymous Lisa, at 2:38 PM, June 27, 2007

  • FIRST OF ALL THE OWNER IS A LIAR.THATS NOT A ENGLISH MASTIFF..ENGLISH MASTIFFS DO COME THAT COLOR......THATS A NEO .....CANE CORSO DONT GET THAT BIG...LOOK AN ENGLISH MASTIFF UP!

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 9:43 PM, June 27, 2007

  • I believe that that is a pony not a horse and they are(the people)of short stature.I believe it,it is amazing!!!

He weighs in around 276 pounds.

  • good pic. big dog 'but for all the ghostbusters out there check out the gravestones in the background to have orbs above

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 7:23 AM, July 14, 2007

  • Photoshop makes wonderful fakes.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 1:59 AM, July 15, 2007

  • It's photoshopped just take a look at the guys waist the editor has stuffed up and put grass where it shouldn't be, and also all the blurring around the edges of the dog and people are a dead give away, if it were a real photo the edges would be in focus just like the rest of the picture.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 3:03 AM, July 24, 2007

  • who knows miricles can happen, like the tallest man there can also be the biggest dog

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 10:53 AM, July 26, 2007

  • It would be nice to believe that Hercules was real but look at the shadow it's a blob.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 10:28 AM, August 06, 2007

  • That DAMN DOG IS FAKE....they did a bad job at the photo shop.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 3:21 PM, August 27, 2007

  • I am almost 100% certain that is not an English Mastiff http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/English_Mastiff , it is a Neapolitan Mastiff (same dog used in the Harry Potter Movies as the pet of Hagrid) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neapolitan_Mastiff

Neapolitan Mastiff’s are set on the books to be a max of 68 KG or 150lbs and maybe even maxing out around the 90KB of 200lbs mark. That dog would be large than that by

For a dog to truly be that physical Size it would have to be around 500 lbs or more, which is just ridicules for a dog to reach., now in about 30 years if people decided to start crossing the Giants to get a large dog of that size we might get a dog to come near the 400lbs mark and maybe even break it.

Who ever photo shopped that picture did a good job I couldn’t tell it was photo shopped until I recognized the dog breed.

    My verdict Fake Picture.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 2:33 AM, September 08, 2007

  • Zoom in on it, wheres the whole of it's back right leg? i mean a dog that size is bound to have at least a little bit of his back leg showing...and his head IS too flat to be normal :P That 11 year old is right.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 7:43 AM, September 23, 2007

  • holy crappers!!
    that dog is HUGE.
it looks like it'll smash that horse to the ground!!

    I'm freakin shocked... kuulio!

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 12:43 AM, September 30, 2007

  • :O It's real. Mastiff's have always been known to get that big. It's very deceiving though, as that's a pony.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 7:36 AM, October 01, 2007

  • It is not real!

By Blogger van, at 4:14 PM, October 02, 2007

  • the dog is 100% reall it is not a fake those dogs are really big

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 8:00 AM, October 26, 2007

  • That is a REAL photograph. I thought it was fake and checked several myth sites, but that dog is (I believe) Zamora, the biggest dog alive.

You forget though, that the "horse" is actually just a 13.3 HH pony (very short) and the people are not that tall themselves, so the dog appears collosal in accordance.

But then again, he weighs about 300 LBS, so he is rather big!

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 3:42 AM, November 11, 2007

  • holy crap wtf thats fake

By Blogger bruce, at 8:14 PM, December 20, 2007

  • That's not even that big I saw a dog when I was in Vienna, Austria walkin' back from a club at 4:00 am that would have left you crapping your pants it was at least half a foot taller than this dog and it looked like the ginormous version of Beethoven

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 12:10 PM, December 24, 2007

  • it is HUGE and how could it be fake if there is a shadow or it doesnt have pixle thingys on the dog so shut it cause its real

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 4:57 PM, February 04, 2008

  • It's a fake.
Take a close look at where the grass meets the dog's paws. The pixels have been slightly blened as well as the shadows around the paws, particularly the front paw that is on the ground has no shadow. It has just been feathered into the grass.
Also take a look at the guys feet and the shadow that is near his legs which is casted by the dog. Notice the blur of the grass and how the clone tool has been dragged a little too much, which has created a streaking of the grass. Take a look the shadow it self by the dog. Its mainly one large blur... where are the breaks in the shadow for the legs. There should be because the image is real due to the angle of light (note the horse's shadow)

  • I think that the picture is fake. I found another picture that they claimed real and the dog s brown...

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 4:28 AM, February 25, 2008

  • it's %100 fake...(Look at the guys right hip. there's a chunk of him missing that was likely covered with a clone or stamp tool. there's grass over the area.(on his hip)

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 2:30 PM, February 26, 2008

  • it's fake, the collar is a horse collar and if you look behind the head the bone structures exactly the same!
Trust me i own a horse and a dog and you can tell that it's fake!

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 10:41 AM, February 28, 2008

  • has anyonm enoticed that the dog hasnt got hind legs! in my dog which is the same breed you cans ee the back legs if you stand directly infront

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 10:47 AM, February 28, 2008

  • this iz one big DOG YO!
and umm who dog iz it!!??

  • "After faxing veterinary records to the Guinness office in New York, Mr. Flynn was notified that his pooch will be listed as the official Largest Dog in the World unless someone else comes forward.
Hercules' sheer volume may have won him the Largest Dog title, but apparently the Heaviest Dog title still rests with "Kell" who weighed in at 286 (just four lbs. heavier) in August of 1999."
    Veterinary records don't lie.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 8:43 PM, February 29, 2008

  • It annoys me how some of you people think its real.. take it from a graphic designer its a fake. my job is to manipulate images and this image has definatly been played with. Give any graphic designer, multimeadia, TV production student or professional this image and they will tell you straight away that it is a fake.. look at the subtle details ppl... shadow, lighting, how dog sits in the background..

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 6:44 AM, March 05, 2008

  • 561-676-9766 is the Hotline of Mastifs breeders in Palm Beach FL. If a gal name Tonya answers let her know that was a great photoshop sketch... Tonya is also a graphic design artist and has submitted this photo almost 5 years ago. It is a fake any moron can realize this... There is no dog in the world that size!

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 10:37 AM, March 07, 2008

  • Fake Fake Fake.....

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 1:38 PM, March 30, 2008

  • did anyone notice the back leg is missing from the photo? there should be a hind leg firmly on the ground behind the front leg that is rasised off the ground, where is it? dogs can't walk with two legs off the ground on the same side of the body. just like a horse can't

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 5:46 AM, April 23, 2008

  • Looks to me like the dog was pgotographed at a closer distance than the others - possibly with a wider lense. Just look at the relative size of the head. It must be fake.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 12:53 PM, April 29, 2008

  • FFS i realy hope its real ..... realy wanna see that one the news then and btw it looks LIKE a monster! woot! relay wanna have that dogg at my own place

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 10:32 AM, May 22, 2008

  • It looks real but not really that much. S i sort of am on both sides. you usually can tell if things are fake on the picture because it like shows up in this weird way but it doesn't look like it does on this picture so i think it is real

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 6:44 PM, June 07, 2008

  • That dog is real, He lives in Summerland Britsh columbia-Canada. He eats 100lbs beef, and 50 lbs goats milk a week. Hes got a 38 inch neck. My friend for 6 years moved to summerland 2 years ago, and is good friends with the owner of the dog. The dogs name is Hercules.

  • Neapolitan Mastiff. they are really big dogs, but they are more big and not tall. and it doesn't have anything to do with being in Ireland.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 8:51 PM, July 03, 2008

  • its real...they had it on the footy show. but that aside it would get smashed in a fight with a regular pit dog. its too big to agile enough and to slow coz of its weight.....id have it though!
