Two-Legged Dog Discovered in Woods

Wednesday, October 10, 2007

Two-legged dog chihuahuaLast Monday, in Pender County, NC, a hunter found an abandoned 2-year old chihuahua that was missing its two front legs.

The hunter brough the dog to a veterinary hospital in Wilmington. It was give the name "Roo" because of its missing front legs.

The dog is able to stand up by balancing itself on its hind legs, and can hobble about.

The hospital is now raising money to buy Roo a wheelchair. If you'd like to help out, call them at (910) 799-3400.

  • Why are people so mean and cruel? Doesn't anyone have a conscious or feel empathy anymore; for anything? People need to start thinking and remembering that animals have feelings and emotions also. Can you imagine how that little baby felt? If the dog happened to "hop" off out of the yard, why do the majority of people just let the animal go without looking for that family member? If the other scenerio of someone just letting the dog out into the wild to fend for itself, shame, shame, shame. I commend the person who found the little frightened baby!!!!

  • The animal hospital could always make a wheel chair. I work at an animal hospital and we had a little puppy (a pug) that was in a car accident and she injured her spine and was unable to use her hind legs, one of Dr.'s built her a "doggie wheelchair" and after using for a couple of days she really got the hang of it and now she doesn't use the chair at all! Of course Roo would have to be in the chair permantly but it may be cheaper to build rather than buy..just a suggestion :) hope all works out!

  • How sad. As a dog lover, it makes me want to cry, but as a member of the ASPCA, it makes me angry. I can not stand the thought of cruelty to dogs or any other animal, for that matter. If somebody did that to Roo on purpose, I hope they get what they deserve. I've always believed in the old saying, "what goes around, comes around." I hope they can find a nice, loving home for Roo. He deserves it.

  • It breaks my heart to see such cruelty to leave Roo all alone to fend for itself. Howerver if thats not the case then, why has'nt anyone put out a search for this beautiful animal he needs special care. I have a dog and she is diabetic and legally blind.I could neve leave her out in the wild to fend for herelf. FYI animals don't pity themselves like humans do they have unconditional love. which brings me to my next comment people can learn from these beautiful animasl that God has bless us with. why would any one hurt on of God creations is beyond me. My prayes and love go out to Roo.

  • At least the dogs ordeal is over with now and he is in good hands. I'm sure it's in a better environment now than when it was with it's original owners. How can you own a special little dog like that and not advertise that it is now missing?

Kudos to the hunter who found him and did the right thing.

  • I can't belive such cruelty is happening in the world. Imagine how scared Roo must have felt, not able to move! How could he have survived on his own? If someone had thrown out a creature just because it had no front legs, all the reason to care for it more. If some people can't understand the meaning of life then what is their purpose of living? People should take some authority and spread the word! No animal cruelty should be happening if everyone cared. There are other animals out there who are still being mistreated, and I pray that the pain is taken away. But at least when someone cares, one of them is saved.
