Shower With Your Dog

Monday, December 31, 2007

Do you like to take a shower with your dog? Or, at least have it there with you?

One couple in Bremerton, WA fought over this issue, as they prepared to take a shower together. According to the Associated Press...
The woman told her boyfriend that if the dog doesn't stay out, she didn't want to be his girlfriend anymore. He replied that maybe his next girlfriend would appreciate the dog more, and called her a name.

The police report said the woman punched him in the face several times and the man dislocated his shoulder after the naked couple grappled. He told police his girlfriend threw a picture frame, which broke and cut him.
Now she's in jail.

My wife and I never close the bathroom door when we shower, but for whatever reasons, Max doesn't seem to want to watch. Mia, however, follows me around everywhere, and will lay down on the bathroom floor and wait for me to finish showering.

  • Strange stuff indeed.

Personally, I would not want to date someone who does not like my animals because they're part of my family and I made a commitment when I chose to bring them home. It wouldn't be right to neglect them or dump them because of someone new in my life.

However, I also have the good common sense not to shower with my dog or force someone else to shower with my dog. A little courtesy toward the humans you love (and other humans in general, who may not like dogs or cats) does go a long way.

Sounds like it's a good thing these two split up. Obviously, she didn't like the dog. She doesn't seem to have a nice temper, either, seeing how she punched him and threw a picture frame at him when he called her a name.

She probably would've thrown a fit had he told her to get her stuff and get out, even if he hadn't called her a name.

  • Both of my girls will visit me in the bathroom. Max, my Pog (half Beagle/Half Pig) usually lays next to the tub. She suffered separation anxiety when she first came to live with me after I adopted her from the humane society. I could never close the door on her. Zoie, my Rat Terrier, just turned six months and had her first encounter with me taking a bath last night. She was so intrigued. She kept running into the bathroom and peaking over the edge of the tub to see what was going on. At one point I thought she might jump in. My girls are part of my family and included in as much as possible. Having them in the bathroom with me is not an issue.

  • At my house, you must be escorted by the dogs so they can make sure you do not escape from the hidden door of the bathroom.

  • Hah. My dog also escorts me to the bathroom to check for boogey men before I shower. Then while I shower, he momentarily sticks his head in the shower curtain to make sure things are going well. My boyfriend knows this, and over time has come to appreciate the added security!!

  • Once, when I was washing my hair in the tub while bathing, I sensed a presence. My pitbull Puzzle was there, and he proceeded to lower his head down to the tub to take a drink of water.

I don't know why he did that, because he had fresh cold water in the kitchen, with no shampoo in it!

My five dogs have the option to come in the restroom while I bathe, but they usually prefer to just check in on me to see what I am doing.

  • We have 5 "babies" 2 Rotties, 2 Shih Tzus and 1 Lab. They are all so special to us, each one with their own personallity.
I was in the shower the other night and Wally (our 170 lb. Male Rotti.) got in with me, and he got a hot shower too...he felt much better. :)
My moms Lab. loves the bath tub too. She was running her bath water one night and told "Coco" she's be back in a few minutes, Coco wasnt there....she was in my moms bath waiting patiently for her turn....my mom had to wait!!!!

  • My Westie hates it when any door is closed, and not only does he come in the bathroom with me when I'm showering, I bring him and shower him at the same time. It is a great way to keep him clean, keeps the mess in the shower stall so it is easy to clean up after!

  • My Collie and Sheltie "herd" me to the bathroom and watch me shower, brush teeth, put on makeup and go to the bathroom. I wouldn't know how to act if I was in the bathroom alone. First it was the kids now it's the furry kids.

  • My bullmastiff will walk right in the far end of my step-in-shower. He's so cute about it. He licks at the water, then invites himself right in! I keep his doggy shampoo nearby now, and srub him down abit. My hubby always laughs at us when he walks in on this scene.
