Dog Breed Retriever is a new website that publishes information about various dog breeds.
They provide background descriptions, temperament information, and care information. It also has a list of ratings for each breed (1 to 10 stars) on stuff like trainability, sociability, affection, etc.
That way, you know what you're getting yourself into before you buy that doggie in the window. Or perhaps, now you know what to expect!
So I took a look around to see what information they had on Mia, my beagle. Reading it over, it seems pretty much on par with what other books and magazines have described.
Dog Breed Retriever has a web forum for people to chit chat about dogs.
The website also has a dog breeder directory for each dog breed.
Was hoping to find a list of breed-specific rescues and shelters, since there are so many homeless dogs that need a home. I didn't find one. I know of at least one beagle rescue in Southern California. Seems like this is a perfect way for a website like this to give back to the community.
Finally, you can sharpen your dog recognition skills by playing their "breed recognition game". It display a dog on the screen, and you pick from a multiple choice selection.
