Bizarre Dog-Napping Case

Saturday, January 05, 2008

Here's a sad story about a man who lost his dog last Halloween, only be called on the phone by some kids threatening to kill his dog unless he paid $600.00. And then apparently, they killed the dog anyways...

http://news.yahoo.com/..../missing_dog_extortion

Police have arrested at least one 15-year old boy in the case, but the whereabouts of the dog is unknown.

The judicial system needs to come down much more hard on low-life scum such as this. If you read the article above, it's clear these kids are not just playing games, and will certainly grow up to commit bigger crimes.

I'm tired of compassionate courts.

People like these are beyond rehabilitation, and the courts need to excise these little tumors before they metastasize into cancers, and send a message to rest of America's youth.

  • I pray for the Dog and the owner. we need stronger laws on dogs and cats. What I have learn in 50 plus more years on this world. that there are alot more nicer dogs and cats in this world than people, they need to be in a safe world, I think maybe God stop, when animals, before he finish the big bag with humans. read your bible, Sam

  • i have 2 wolf hybrids that are as much a part of the family as the kids and grandkids. i realize that some people wouldn't understand putting the animals on par with the kids but that is their status in our family and i would grieve their loss in the same way. having said that, children, and a 15 year old is closer to adulthood than childhood, who would not only hurt an animal for fun AND hurt it's owner too, is sick and needs to be kept from society until either cured or until he dies in order to protect society from him. i have to wonder that this child got to that age without anyone noticing how potentially dangerous he is.

  • I agree with the above posters, Dogs and Cats, when living within a household, are the same as family. They are living beings, dependant on us,as are children, for food, health, shelter, and education. they also have the benefit of being innocents. They do nothing out of malice or greed. and for the most part they love us unconditionally.
I could only wish for a child with those qualities.
The kids that perpetrated those horrendous acts should feel the full force of the law. charge them with murder one. they willfully and with premeditation committed murder with aggravating circumstances of theft/extorsion and kidnappimng. Age makes no difference. life without parole, or even better: death.

  • As a Registered Veterinary Nurse, and dog owner myself, I help to ease and eradicate pain in animals. When I hear stories like this it infuriates me. I think the pain should be inflicted back on those who committed the crime. It all goes back to the "Golden Rule."

  • There is absolutely no reason why these kids should not be treated as adults and be given prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. I hope they get life and rot in jail.

  • Oh my God, if someone had done that to my lab rot mix, Honey, or Bandit, my dalmation mix I'd probably lose control and kill the kids. I totally agree, its only a matter of time before these children step up from animals to humans and twenty years down the line people will be wondering "What were the signs" Well this is a pretty big one if you ask me. I think the child's family should have to pay something to the dog owner, if not in time behind bars then in a community service venue where the child will have to be educated on animal rights, and observed closely. This kind of story makes me sick. I think I'm gonna go love on my animals a bit more today.
