Yummy Chummies Dog Treats

Friday, June 20, 2008

Yummy Chummies Dog TreatsYummy Chummies is a brand of dog treats produced by Arctic Paws, LLC, a company based in Anchorage, AK.

It's focus on the benefits of salmon, specifically the heart-healthy nutrients of Omega 3 and Omega 6 fatty acids. The omegas are said to boost immunity, mobility, join, and skin, and for dogs, a nice shiny coat.

The company sent me a bag of their "Original" variety. They several other varieties, all based on salmon, but with other flavorings like Bacon and Chicken. Hmmm, bacon-flavored salmon?

So I gave some pieces to Max and Mia, and watched their reaction. Sure enough, they liked it.

Well, when it comes to giving your dogs some treats, it's really about satisfying yourself. I don't know too many dogs that would turn down a treat.

The photo above makes these pieces look like they're hard, like crackers. But they're not. They're chewy, but not necessarily soft as the package says. They're more like stiff fig-newtons.

The typically retail for about $4.99 per 4oz bag.

Purina Carvers - Dog Treats

Thursday, November 15, 2007

Purina Carvers Dog TreatsNestle Purina PetCare Co. recently launched a new line of dog treats called, "Purina Carvers", meant to mimic slices of hand-carved meat.

The product claims to contain over 80% "real chicken". The package's ingredients list doesn't specify what type of chiken meat though it says it contains no by-products.

The best I can tell, it appears to be the same as, or similar to, Purina's "Cheweez Carvers" dog treats. Cheweez claims a higher 85% "real chicken" content.

The guaranteed analysis reads...

Crude Protein (min.) 38.0%
Crude Fat (min.) 4.0%
Crude Fiber (max.) 3.0%
Moisture (max.) 28.0%

The Purina Carvers treats comes in a 3.5 oz. (99g) resealable pouch, with a suggested retail price of $2.29 each.

Photo Dog Biscuits

Wednesday, May 09, 2007

Photo dog biscuitsPhoto Dog Biscuits are, of course, dog biscuits with photos on them.

The one depicted in the photograph is sold online by Moxie's On a Mission, a store that raises money for animal charities.

The photos are edible, printed with food coloring on edible "paper" made from tapioca starch, with icing made from carob powder and egg white. The biscuits themselves are free of gluten, and come in flavors of Beef and Potato, Wild Alaskan Salmon and Peanut Butter.

After placing an order, send Moxie's On A Mission an e-mail with up to three digital photos, and they'll print them on the biscuits.
