Raven Pet Products introduces a new treatment for dog "hot
spots", otherwise known as canine eczema, or "summer
itch".
The treatment, which comes in the form of a shampoo, is designed
to relieve the itching rash, without using any drugs, or hyper-allergenic
ingredients.
Hot spots are surface skin infections caused by large growth
of skin bacteria that overwhelm a dog's normal resistance.
They are often marked by patches of hair loss, swollen redness,
and smelly pus. Dogs frequently bite the infected area making
the matter worse. If left untreated, the hot spots spread
across the body, causing frustration for the dog.
Raven Pet Products claim that their new shampoo is a treatment,
and not a cure, citing that there is no cure for hot spots.
However, there are already stories of success from several
users.
Ed Bresnik, of Simi Valley, CA, and his dog, "Shiloh", a
13-year-old german Shepherd, were one of several participants
that took part in the experiments conducted by Raven Pet Products.
For two years, Bresnik searched unsuccessfully to help his
beloved pet. He visited numerous pet shops and collected bottles
of medicines from veterinarians. Still, the dog suffered from
eczema. His tail was covered with a hard, rock-like scab and
he constantly scratched. "He's more calm now," said Bresnik.
"I don't think he got any sleep at all." The dog's hair also
is coming back after a month of using the shampoo.
Carol Main of Moorpark believes the shampoo saved her dog's
life. "What's It", a 9-year-old mixed breed, was in such bad
shape the family planned to have her put to sleep in another
week. For three or four years, Main paid more than $200 annually
in veterinary bills. After four weeks of treatment "What's
It" is getting new hair and no longer has open sores.
