Pet Sitters Form an Association to Assist in Setting Professional
Standards
Oregon Pet Sitters Association was formed to aid in setting
some important professional standards.
Banks, OR (PRWEB) June 6, 2004 -- Founded in October 2003
by professional pet sitters, Oregon Pet Sitters Association
has assisted the rapidly growing pet sitting industry in setting
some important professional standards. The founding members
of the association felt the need for professional standards
when they had made client referrals to other pet sitters who
did not carry business liability insurance. Though there are
no state requirements for pet sitters to carry business liability
insurance, the businesses that don’t carry insurance pose
greater risks to the clients who hire them. The founders'
need to make more confident referrals spawned an idea of a
statewide association that would help ensure that member pet
sitting businesses would have some simple standards of professionalism.
Oregon Pet Sitters Association in its inaugural year has
now slowly gained over twenty pet sitting business members
that are among the finest the industry has to offer. These
member businesses have been required to provide the association
with proof that they are insured Oregon business owners. Other
standards the association requires are: Reputation, Customer
Protection, Caring Services, Respect and Citizenship. A copy
of the member pledge is available to view on the association’s
website at: www.oregonpetsitters.com
Oregon Pet Sitters Association also helps pet owners find
reliable member businesses by providing a zip code search
on their website. They also provide pet owners with tips on
what to ask pet sitters during the interview process, and
how to prepare pets for their absence. The association also
attends many pet related events to be available to answer
questions about the pet sitting industry. Oregon Pet Sitters
Association will have such a booth to answer questions and
hand out information at an upcoming Rose Festival event: The
Bark in the Park, at the Hillsboro Stadium held from 8AM to
4PM on June 26, 2004.
Oregon Pet Sitters Association will continue to serve as
a useful tool to pet owners and to those businesses who have
become the pioneers to setting these important industry standards.
