Designer Joyce de Brevannes is launching Bark Deco, Inc.
a Los Angeles-based company that specializes in modern custom-made
dog beds.
Bark Deco's debut collection features three sleek styles
named after adopted dogs in her life. The elevated platform
beds have exotic wood veneers, upholstery grade foam cushions
and washable faux suede covers for easy maintenance. The beds
are designed and constructed with style, quality and comfort
in mind.

Bark Deco is particularly good news for the large dog owner,
whose choices for designer beds are surprisingly limited.
When searching for a new bed for her chocolate lab, de Brevannes
quickly realized she would have to create something herself.
“Like so many dog owners, I want the best for Chou-Chou,”
de Brevannes explains. “When I couldn’t find anything on the
market, I took my love for modern design and created what
I believe to be the ultimate dog bed. I was lucky to find
Jerome Brown, a local furniture maker, whose expertise lies
in custom designed modern pieces. Together, we fine-tuned
the prototypes over many months. I believe these beds provide
everything for a dog’s comfort and an owner’s modern aesthetic.”
The debut collection is available in a choice of three wood
veneers: wenge, zebrawood and teak. The beds are built with
the craftsmanship and attention to detail given to “human-sized”
fine furniture. The veneers are applied and finished by hand
over the course of several days. Bark Deco beds also feature
ventilated platforms and a stain and water-resistant inner
lining. And every bed comes with a matching toy bin.
Moreover, de Brevannes explains, in spite of a robust pet
product marketplace, the contemporary homeowner has few options
when it comes to finding a dog bed that matches the level,
quality and modern style of their interior design selections.
“I did a lot of research before starting the business," de
Brevannes said. "While there were elevated beds for sale,
none of them had the high-end modern look I wanted. Bark Deco
beds take into account the needs of both the owner and the
dog. Down to the smallest detail, we believe we have created
a lasting piece of furniture that will be at home in any upscale
interior.”
Bark Deco beds are available by custom order at www.barkdeco.com
. The company will happily work with special requests (veneers,
fabric choices). Although inspired by big dogs, Bark Deco
beds come in sizes small through extra large.
Joyce de Brevannes has a background in Visual Arts and Graphic
Design. She established Bark Deco to fill a void in both the
large dog and modern dog bed categories. All Bark Deco beds
are handmade in America.
