Dog Friendly Bed & Breakfast Opens in New Hampshire

The Lazy Dog Inn invites dog owners to bring their four-legged companions with them for bed & breakfast.

Chocorua, NH (PRWEB) - August 23, 2004 -- The Lazy Dog Inn calls itself a “truly dog friendly bed and breakfast”. And that comes as a welcome relief for over 10-million people per year who hit the road with their pets; 80% with dogs. Providing both two-and-four legged guests traditional New England hospitality in a historically-rich 160-year-old farmhouse, the Lazy Dog Inn offers comfortable and welcoming accommodations.

dog friendly bed & breakfast opens in New HampshireDog guests have access to a climate controlled “Doggie Lodge” where doggie daycare is provided at no additional charge in a secure fenced play area with agility equipment for hours of fun and exercise. And lest one think that the master was forgotten, there’s a well-equipped exercise room for every guest’s use too. Guestrooms with clever names such as “Sit and Stay Awhile Suite”, “Fetch Me a Quilt” or “Rollover Rose” allow man to sleep with his (or her) best friend amidst newly decorated rooms, and doggie beds are provided if requested. They’ve thought of every last detail for doggie and master comfort – right down to cleaning supplies in the bathrooms, should accidents happen.

Seven doggie-decorated rooms with private or shared baths welcome guests with turn-of-the-century antiques, a sumptuous daily breakfast and a relaxing atmosphere, close to all that the Mt. Washington Valley offers.

The Lazy Dog Inn is ideally located in scenic Chocorua, NH. Guests are encouraged to enjoy excursions down to the Chocorua River with Rover or Fifi, or on public trails in nearby Tamworth, where dogs are welcome. Hiking and dog-paddling in nearby lakes and rivers, along with fields for throwing and retrieving are available not only during the dog-days of summer, but in spring and fall too. Come winter, cross country trails for winter treks or ski touring are also nearby. Should guests choose to explore on their own throughout Mt. Washington Valley, hours of entertainment are available for every four-legged guest at the Lazy Dog Doggie Lodge. Here, weave poles, a tire jump, a really cool tunnel, an obstacle ladder and a teeter tawter keep active dogs busy throughout the day.

If rest and relaxation is what guests seek, dogs are allowed in all common rooms (except the dining room, where health codes won’t allow it), as long as they’re with their masters and in all guest rooms too. Relax by the fire, read a new or dog-eared book, enjoy a complimentary cup of tea or hot chocolate and cookies from the bottomless cookie jars – one for guests and another with bones for their dogs.

Dog-lovers, Steve and Lauren Sousa, along with their two golden retrievers Meghan and Molly, opened the Lazy Dog Inn on Memorial Day 2004 with the intention of offering those who, like themselves, love to spend time with their dogs a welcoming place to vacation. “We wanted to create a totally hospitable place for those who enjoy traveling with their dogs to come for getaways,” said Steve Sousa. The Lazy Dog Inn has accomplished a truly dog-friendly environment, in a historic farmhouse that their masters will enjoy too.

And to insure that they stay top-dog, accommodations are not available here for cats or other pets. Of course a few restrictions must apply. Puppies beyond 12-weeks are welcomed, but vet papers showing up-to-date vaccinations are requested. And to insure that every dog’s whim is considered, a doggie-profile sheet is requested with each reservation.

Nightly rates range from $95 to $125, with no additional fee for dogs. Rates include a full breakfast for Mom and Dad, and unlimited doggie treats for Bowser. Call 888-323-8350 for reservations, rates and availability. In today’s dog eat dog world, it’s nice to know there’s a finally place for relaxing getaways, where couples can go to relax together with their four-legged friends.
